Welcome to the Source

Welcome to the online database of 47 suspected Brownfields located in the historic area of
Ponce and Petrochemical Corridor of Guayanilla and Penuelas, Puerto Rico. The computerized
tool for municipalities in the southern region and potential investors, refers to an inventory of over
a thousand acres of land suspected of contamination in order to boost the revitalization of
these sites in Ponce, Guayanilla and Penuelas. The database includes over two thousand points
for information from public sources. The information is verified with property owners on a voluntary basis.

The database includes individual reports of each property, its physical location on maps, information
about the owners, pictures of the sites, and links to environmental data and reuse plans.
The inclusion of a property in the database does not necessarily mean the site is contaminated.
It only indicates that the property was approved for environmental studies, according to a determination
of eligibility made by the Brownfields Program of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
the source of funds for the project developed by DISUR.
